In Switzerland most recent example is the Connyland, where in the last three and a half years, eight dolphins have died. Since the Oscar-winning “The Cove” is well known that the dolphinariums industry responsible for the deaths of countless dolphins is.

Underwater noise threatens marine life!

States Parties to the Bonn Convention agreed at the last day for new action steps to reduce underwater noise, including consideration of potential effects of underwater noise on migratory species in all environmental impact assessments in the marine environment; call nationally, regionally and internationally to reduce the use of hazardous noise sources; Addressing the potential adverse effects of noise in marine protected areas under the management plans, is also to be regarded as a progressive decision to employ the use of the ever best available alternative technologies to reduce underwater noise.

Migratory marine mammals

After intensive negotiations within the Working Group on all aspects of the conference, which concerns the protection of marine species, were presented today the results. The proposals will be decided at the last conference.A key point is an ambitious work program for the protection of the Convention of Migratory Species listed in dozens of whale and dolphin species for the period from 2012 until 2024.

Niki Entrup for OceanCare in Norway: 7 States and EU sign agreement to protect migratory shark species

Today, on the first day of the conference to the Bonn Convention, signed by seven European countries and the European Union as a member of the Bonn Convention, the Convention on Migratory shark species.
