Greenland allowed to hunt humpback whales

Hardly arrived at home, has reached me some bad news from Agadir. The International Whaling Commission has decided that Greenland may hunt humpback whales kill new 9 per year. This ratio was decided on the basis of consensus of all Member States. So there was no vote on it, although some countries such as Australia, Monaco and the Latin American countries, have registered their concerns. Continue reading »

The last day of this year's IWC meeting

Since I had already left at 12:00 clock the convention center, I have to decide whether Greenland may hunt humpback whales in the future or not, sadly missed. The Switzerland has its say

The moratorium on commercial whaling remains!

What has been signed yesterday evening, this morning has been confirmed at the meeting of the IWC. The compromise proposal which would have led to the lifting of the whaling ban has failed. Credibility of the IWC is at stake

This year, 62 Meeting of the IWC is developing more and more of the most important since that of 1982 when the moratorium on commercial whaling, which came into force in 1986 was decided. The IWC holds its breath

The General Assembly of the IWC was already shortly after the opening interrupted for half days. The reason for this is not about the OceanCare on the website is mentioned corruption scandal, but the compromise proposal on the future of the IWC.
